Inspiration

Some studies list driver fatigue as a direct cause of up to 20% of all road accidents. We aimed to create a reliable system that uses AI to provide careful and rigorous protection against this phenomenon.

The Challenge

Our system had to be trained to recognise various signs of fatigue in different faces, and we had to design a method by which to stimulate drivers back into full attention.

Our Accomplishment

Our system detects when drivers begin to show typical signs of fatigue, and alerts them to impending danger through mild aural or physical stimuli.

What’s Next

This system is to be implemented in buses and taxis around Hong Kong, protecting both drivers and pedestrians from the potentially fatal consequences of driver fatigue.
